Nicky's 'Octi' Ring
The story of a ring named ‘Octi’
Our lovely customer had bought some traditional style rings at auction however, they were set with unusual and beautiful large black diamonds, each weighing 2cts. She wanted to re-purpose them into a showpiece ring that she would wear. Our brief was to design a statement ring inspired by her love of marine life, especially the octopus.
The concept was a 3D abstract sculptural ring, designed so the tentacles wrap around the three large black diamonds and entwine her finger. Small round brilliant cut diamonds were flush set around the black diamonds to add even more sparkle and drama.
Hannah modelled the ring on CAD with the Blue Ringed Octopus as inspiration. We really went to town with adding the texture and the suckers to the tactile tentacles. This one of a kind ring was made in solid hallmarked Sterling silver, which, working closely with Lucy in our workshop, was then Oxidised black and polished back to show the contrast and highlight the bumpiness on the Octopus arms whilst complementing the black diamonds.
Our customer fell in love with her bespoke ring the second she came for her first fitting and immediately named her ring “Octi.
As you can see she is over the moon and already collecting stones so she can commission the matching neckpiece.

“I’ve just got home with my beautiful bespoke ring and I am absolutely over the moon with it, I can’t stop looking at it and smiling.
Hannah designed my ring from our first conversation and using jewels from and old pair of earrings and a ring I got cheap from an auction, she made it into the most beautiful octopus ring, the design and ring are just perfect for me.
From the initial consultation with Hannah, the update meetings with her and the silversmith, sorry I can't recall her name, to picking my ring up, it has been an amazing experience, all the staff are just amazing and so so talented.
