Oliver’s Grandmother & Her Chainmail Purse

Do you watch the Repair Shop? We also love a personal challenge. Our client had inherited a 1920’s silver chainmail purse which had belonged to his dear Grandmother.
Sadly this beautiful and delicate piece had chain mail sections and some decorative parts missing. We were tasked with the restoration of this very precious and sentimental antique.
Our dedicated and talented Goldsmith Yev researched the type of link from that period and style, and carefully created each individual one of them, in silver, identical to the original links. He painstakingly ‘patched’ the missing link areas in a way so full of care and expertise that it would be impossible to tell the old from the new. The missing decorative silver ball which hang from the base was likewise crafted and restored with perfection!
No two jobs are the same and Our Goldsmiths are experts in creating incredibly fine and detailed elements for jewellery, in all precious metals and gemstones with real artistry and care, and it is such an honour to work on such personal and important projects for our beloved customers.
The purse is now back to its former glory, and with a polish too, looks like new!

Our client was thrilled with the result and so relieved that such an important family heirloom is now in the best condition it could possibly be, ready to pass on to future generations.
